Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs in educational settings. This role is based in Lorain, OH, and involves travel between various schools to facilitate effective communication for students and staff who use sign language. Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events. Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals, ensuring full participation in educational activities. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment. Prepare and adapt interpretation techniques according to the context and subject matter. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Desired Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and the ability to interpret complex educational content. Previous experience working in a school or educational environment preferred. Strong understanding of deaf culture and the challenges faced by deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness and ability to travel to multiple school locations within the Lorain, OH area.
