Annual Salary: $46,500 - $49,500

FLSA STATUS: Salary/Non-Exempt

HOURS: Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours vary and may include limited evenings and weekends.

JOB SUMMARY: The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for recruitment, retention, and outreach strategies of students from diverse backgrounds to support the College's core institutional values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will provide administrative support to the Office for Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI).


  • Develop and implement a strategic recruitment plan for the DEI office and Admissions office that entails outreach to area high schools.
  • Develop and promote DEI events and programs on and off-campus to benefit faculty, staff, students, and communities served by St. Clair County Community College.
  • Partner with community and corporations in pursuit of external funding opportunities.
  • Assist the Director in developing strategic plans for the DEI Mentorship Program.
  • Design, plan and implement educational and DEI student development activities aligned with the goals and objects of the DEI office. Activities include but are not limited to workshops, recreational activities, networking opportunities, professional development opportunities, etc.
  • Keep abreast of current research on the experiences of historically underrepresented and underserved students in higher education.
  • Recruit, train, and support peer and professional mentors to facilitate participant's career, social, and cultural growth and development.
  • Advance the culture of assessment and evaluation of DEI programs and events through the promotion of DEI.
  • Facilitate critical efforts that support DEI student success and provide direct services such as monitoring and follow-up regarding DEI student, staff, faculty, and community climate assessments and progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under the supervision of the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.


  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Education Administration, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated and successful experience in a college setting.
  • Prior work experience with underserved and underrepresented populations required.
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated presentation, public speaking, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Excellent public relations skills, including an ability to work effectively with people of diverse ages, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic backgrounds.


  • Self-motivated, team player, advocating and exemplifying a cooperative approach to solving problems.
  • Continuous learner, strong work ethic, energetic, sense of urgency, and "can-do" attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and organizational skills.
  • Computer software experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents while fulfilling a world-class service function.
