TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time

CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan Contingent

Annual Salary: $46,500 - $49,500

FLSA STATUS: Salary/Exempt

HOURS: Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours vary and may include limited evenings and weekends.

Position is contracted for a specified limited term contingent upon receipt of grant funds or scope and satisfactory performance. Person employed in such capacity shall be subject to review and shall have no claim to continued employment beyond the specific term established for that position.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Student Support and Success Navigator is responsible for providing support to students with academic advising, mental health needs, personal life issues and crisis intervention. This position works directly with students using a variety of proactive initiatives to increase success, retention, and completion. Responsible for providing comprehensive information and services to assist students with connections to campus and community resources, as well as the development and successful implementation of educational and career plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide students with mental health assistance, academic advising, and educational planning to support success, retention, and completion.
  • Work in collaboration with the Student Services team and as a member of the Behavioral Education Success Team (i.e. BEST) to support student mental health and personal life needs, connecting students with campus resources for academic support as well as referral to community-based services as needed.
  • Develop educational resources and provide faculty and staff training to better understand student mental health and personal life needs to improve student success
  • Facilitate and work toward resolution of student behavior situations on-campus or within College Housing, in collaboration with other College departments/administrators including the Vice President of Student Services, Director of Behavioral Intervention, and/or Manager of College Housing.
  • Assist students with questions on a variety of key topics including but not limited to:
  • developing and monitoring educational plans for certificate/degree completion at SC4
  • interpret academic assessment results to identify appropriate course placement
  • transfer planning
  • monitoring progress via certificate and degree audits
  • questions related to the Financial Aid process
  • interpreting college policies, procedures and student's rights and responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of current technology applications to enhance the delivery of services to students
  • Record student meeting contacts and develop reports as requested
  • Enhance applicable skills through ongoing professional development and affiliations
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to students, faculty and staff including compliance with FERPA and HIPPA. Appropriate documentation of all student matters utilizing college technology and networking with the appropriate staff, faculty and/or campus patrol as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advising

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Advising.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, education, human services, or related field. Preference to applicants with current professional licensure in counseling (LPC), social work (LMSW), and/or psychology (LLP or LP) with 2 years of post-master's degree experience in an educational or mental health setting.

  • Knowledge of utilizing technology (Microsoft Office 365 experience preferred) to enhance work effectiveness and efficiency including efficient typing skills
  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
