TRIO SSS Advising/Retention Specialist
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time, 52 weeks
CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan Contingent (Grant Funded)
Annual Salary: $46,500 - $48,425 based on skills, qualifications,
and experience.
FLSA STATUS : Salary/Exempt
HOURS : Generally, Mon - Friday: 8 am. to 4:30 p.m. with
flexibility to provide evening and weekend coverage as required.
Average hours per week: 37.5

Up to thirty-eight (38) paid time off days annually (prorated based
on hire date).
Up to fourteen (14) paid holidays/days closed throughout the year

attend SC4 credit classes covering full cost of tuition and
technology fee (when applicable) per campus guidelines. Additional
funds for employment-related education/training each year upon
approval.

memberships, travel and conferences
Benefits offered (above) match those offered to other members in
accordance with the College's Career Plan Agreement. Unused
vacation time will not be paid out and sick time balances will be
forfeited upon separation.
Position is contracted for a specified limited term contingent upon
receipt of grant funds or scope and satisfactory performance.
Person employed in such capacity shall be subject to review and
shall have no claim to continued employment beyond the specific
term established for that position.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of TRIO SSS.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Education Administration, Student
Personnel, Social Work, Counseling, or closely related fields.
Master's degree preferred; Minimum two years' work experience in
higher education delivering advising, career and support services
to disadvantaged and underrepresented students; Community College
experience preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiarity with financial aid, admissions, graduation, and
transfer requirements;
Current knowledge related to academic advising, transfer planning,
enrollment process, and career decision making;
Demonstrated ability to work at all levels across the institution
including with faculty;
Ability to develop community partnerships to provide additional
resources to students; and,
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
required.
Preference to those with backgrounds and experiences similar to the
TRIO student population to be served.
