Job Title: Controls Technician
Reports To: Service Manager
Summary: This position is responsible for commissioning and
diagnostics of industrial control systems, used in various
manufacturing processes. Must be flexible in working for various
customers and able to work with various design standards.
Complete controls related tasks relating to Service Department
responsibilities and as required by the customer's scope of
Engineering reviews of current operational production machines and
processes to develop costs and work scopes in support of efficient
Perform site surveys in support of Service Estimating and future
Service activity on customer's site.
Understand and follow customer supplied specifications
Assist in network diagnostics and repair of Electrical / Controls
Debug as required with PLC programming such as Allen Bradley
(Device Net, Ethernet) and Siemens (Profinet) as well as Remote IO
and Data Highway Plus modules.
Assist Paslin Site Supervision and customer appointed leaders in
identifying and elimination of production and start up issues.
Provide production support of control systems and processes
Perform all other duties, as assigned
Be able to work out of town as needed - up to 85% of the time.
3 years of direct and dedicated controls work related
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Experience with programming software set up, including application
installation, and communications software set up, on PC's.
Strong working knowledge of Rockwell or Siemens families of PLC's
and associated I/O networks
Knowledge of industrial communication networks (E-Net, Device-Net,
Profinet and Modbus)
Working experience reading, modifying and updating electrical
drawings in ACAD or E-Plan Environments
Working knowledge of robotics communications and 3rd party device
Process, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
Ability to do onsite root cause analysis of industrial process
equipment that uses industrial controls and I/O.
Must have the ability to travel internationally, including to
Canada and Mexico
Strong written and oral communication skills
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office
environment and plant environment.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative
of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform
the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of
this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk,
and be present on the plant floor or customer facility. Must have
the ability to move into and around tooling, climb ladders and be
able to lift at least 25lbs to load parts into tools if needed
Expected Hours of Work: This position regularly requires long hours
and frequent weekend work.
Travel: This position requires frequent out of town and overnight
travel. (Road Warrior)
